Our Core Beliefs
1. The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is a revelation from God to man. It is the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason.
2. The One True God has revealed Himself both in creation and in the Scriptures as eternally self-existent. He has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association, as the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
3. The Lord Jesus Christ is God made manifest in the flesh. He is the Eternal Son of the Living God. He was born of a virgin; He lived a sinless life; He worked miracles, and thus displayed the power of God; He died as a substitute for all of mankind; He was physically raised from the dead after three days in the grave, He was and is exalted to the right hand of God; He shall return to this earth one day even as He went away.
4. Man was created by God, good and upright, and existed in a state of innocence, until by voluntary transgression, he disobeyed the command of God. This sin caused his separation from God.
5. The grace of God brings the availability of salvation to all mankind. Man is saved by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If a man believes in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, and with his mouth confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, he shall be saved.
6. Water Baptism
Water baptism is an ordinance/ceremony established by Jesus Christ and one which he calls his followers to observe as a public expression of faith. It is also an outward declaration and profession of an inward work that his people have practiced throughout church history. It is not essential for salvation, but important for all the above reasons.5
7. The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper, commonly known also as “communion” is an ordinance established by Jesus Christ himself. The bread and the cup represent his body and his blood. It is to be observed at an open table by all who follow him as frequently as they desire.6
8. Baptism of the Holy Spirit
The baptism of (in, by, with) the Holy Spirit is a distinct experience apart from the initial work of salvation. In the work of salvation we are baptized into the body of Christ. In this distinct experience we are filled with the Holy Spirit who is given to us by the Father as we make request of him. The primary evidence is the power of God enabling the disciple to live as a witness (martyr) for Christ in every situation and location. This distinct experience also makes available to the disciple the ability to pray with his/her spirit (in tongues).7
9. Divine Healing
Sickness had no place in the Garden of Eden. It will have no place in heaven. Sickness had no place in the body of Jesus Christ. Sickness is a reality experienced only in this fallen world in which we live. Jesus healed the sick. He did so only as a result of that which he saw the Father to do. He commanded his disciples to do as he had done. Jesus bore the punishment necessary to secure divine healing for all people and all creation. As his disciples are led by the Holy Spirit they will lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. Healing for man will be final and complete once the body is fully redeemed.8
10. The Resurrection of the Believer
The physical bodies of all those who have died in faith in Jesus Christ will be raised up from the grave and changed into the likeness of his glorious body on the last day.9
11. The Resurrection of the Unbeliever
All those who’ve died without being born-again will be physically raised up from the grave to appear before the judgment seat of Christ where they will receive their eternal punishment for rejecting the offer of the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. 10
12. Hell
Hell is a real place of eternal torment reserved for the devil and his angels and for those who have followed him there. It is a place of eternal separation from God, hence a place of darkness and pain where the soul never dies nor the fire ever quenched.11
